Providing a safe and well organised environment for primary and secondary school students to pursue their equestrian sport endeavours
BIS Series Announcement

30 October 2019

Over the last 15 years the Barwon Interschool Series has been providing opportunities for young equestrians to represent their school in the Barwon region.

During that time, the Barwon Interschool Series grew from four small competitions to the huge range of high quality events we enjoyed during the past seasons.

Running the series takes significantly more time to coordinate and manage than our current group is able to commit and on that basis we will not be running a series in 2020.

Thank you to all the riders, supporters and sponsors who have been part of the series over the years.

We wish all riders good luck for the coming year.

Any enquiries can be directed to: marinao@ggs.vic.edu.au

Individual schools will continue to host competitions. The following dates have been confirmed for 2020:

  • Friday 21 February 2020 - Geelong Grammar School Showjumping

(at GGS Corio)

  • Sunday 23 February - Geelong Grammar School Dressage (VEIS Qualifier)

(at GGS Corio)

  • Saturday 9 May - Geelong Grammar School Showjumping (Barwon Region VEIS Qualifier)

(at WPNEC)

  • Saturday 1 June - RGAPS - Dressage and Showjumping

(at Geelong Showgrounds)

Our Mission

  • PROMOTE Safety, team spirit, enjoyment and friendship.

  • ENCOURAGE students to participate in the sport, at different levels;

  • RAISE awareness of the positive benefits of competing while raising the profile of Equestrian in the sporting world.

To provide students with knowledge and appreciation of horses, equine management and horse training.

To create an understanding and respect in students of the complex nature and personalities of horses and by so doing, generate a healthy working equine partnership.

To encourage students in their learning journey by creating a positive environment free from insult or fear.

To expose students to the Principles of Equestrian in which respect and patience are inherent qualities and work together to improve their involvement in the sport
